University of Georgia Griffin Campus The UGA Griffin Campus is one of the premier agricultural research centers in the region and is poise

For more than 100 years, the University of Georgia Griffin Campus has played a leading role in the development of modern agriculture in the South. The campus was first established as the Georgia Experiment Station in 1888 as a result of the federal Hatch Act. Early research focused on fertilizers and soil erosion, but soon a complete program of agricultural and environmental research developed. Gr

iffin scientists helped revolutionize agribusiness and farming statewide by solving many persistent crop problems. The deep-furrow method of planting winter oats, pioneered here around 1900, saved southern farmers millions of dollars. Researchers have bred numerous crop varieties, such as Empire cotton, which had major impact on Georgia cotton growers in the 1940s. Griffin scientist, Dr. Jasper Guy Woodroof, contributed greatly to early food science research by developing the technology for frozen foods.

What a fun collage of the faculty, staff and students from our Campus that have volunteered over the past few years. We have a great group, and thanks to Habitat for sharing!

Monday evening Griffin Habitat participated in the UGA Griffin Campus Engagement Fair on campus to make new and returning students aware of opportunities for community engagement.
Over 30 countries were represented and many had heard of Habitat for Humanity’s work in their own countries. It also gave us a chance to remember the last 2 years and how much the staff and students at UGA have contributed.
The picture represents the groups and individuals who have volunteered their time and talents helping Griffin Habitat make a difference in our community. Thank you UGA Griffin Campus!!!
