🌧️ Weather Update for Saturday's America 250 Celebration

We know everyone is watching the forecast—the elephant in the room! 🐘 While we're hoping the rain holds off, we have a plan in place to keep the celebration going if Mother Nature has other ideas.

In the event of rain, the following activities will remain on schedule and move indoors to the Masonic Lodge (134 N High St.):

🏛️ 3rd Floor Stage
• Opening Ceremonies - 9:00 a.m.
• Unveiling of the Highland County Revolutionary War Memorial - 6:00 p.m.
• Military Band Concert - 7:00 p.m.

🎈 2nd Floor Dining Hall
• Kids Zone - 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
• Pioneer Exhibits 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
• Character Presentations - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

🚶 Good news! Masonic Temple Tours, Courthouse Tours, and the Farmers Market will still take place as scheduled, so no worries there! Food Trucks will also do their best to stay open!

Please continue to watch our social media for the official announcement regarding any weather-related changes. We're hoping for sunshine, but rain or shine, we're ready to celebrate 250 years of America together! 🇺🇸

Highland Lodge has been extremely busy with service projects for our community in June and July.
In late May, we particpated in the Bikes in Bloom event in uptown Hillsboro, where local businesses decorate bicycles displayed in front of their businesses.
We started June with our annual scholarship awards and dinner where we awarded 6 scholarships (laptop computers) to graduatiing seniors. Each recipient also received 4 VIP tickets to the "Boomin in the Boro" event on July 3rd.
Next saw the Masonic bodies serving dinner for the Kampers at Kamp Dovetail, a very interactive camp for disabled children.
Highland Lodge was a proud sponsor of the "Boomin in the Boro" fireworks show for the city of Hillsboro.
In July, we had a chicken and fish fry each evening during the Festival of Bells. We also did face painting and free popsicles for the kids. Members also participated in the parade on Saturday, where we received the Judges choice award.
On Sunday July 5th, we provided snacks and helped with the VA Bingo at the Chillicothe veterans center.
On July 18th, Highland Lodge will be offering tours during the Highland County 250 event.

Freemasonry is ALIVE and active in Hillsboro. We would like to thank all of our members who helped in any way, and also the community for their support.

Highland Lodge is proud to have been one of the sponsors of "Boomin in the Boro'x" fireworks show last night as we celebrate the 4th, the Hillsboro community and America's 250th birthday in which many of those patriots were proud Freemasons.

Famous Freemasons in our Country's history.

When we talk about famous, patriotic Masons, we are often referring to the Founding Fathers who were instrumental in shaping the nation's independence, which is celebrating its 250th anniversary. Some of the most famous patriotic Freemasons who laid the foundations of the United States include:George Washington: The first U.S. President was initiated into the Fredericksburg Lodge in Virginia. He wore a Masonic apron at the laying of the U.S. Capitol cornerstone and was eventually buried with Masonic rites.Benjamin Franklin: A patriot, diplomat, and founding member of the fraternity, he served as the Grand Master of Pennsylvania.Paul Revere: Famous for his midnight ride, he was an active Mason and later served as the Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts.Dr. Joseph Warren: A major American patriot and Mason who was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill.Marquis de Lafayette: A French military officer and Mason who played a vital role in supporting the colonists. These men shared fraternal values of liberty and virtue that were heavily influential in the founding of the country.
