Today, the Houston community and the Texas Southern University family mourn the profound loss of a trailblazing alumna, community activist, and local icon. Affectionately known by many as the “Mayor of Third Ward,” Mrs. Provost spent her life capturing the history, beauty, and spirit of Black Houston through Provost Studios.Her dedication to TSU, her tireless advocacy, and her unyielding philanthropic spirit left an undeniable mark on our city. She didn't just witness history—she chronicled it and shaped it.

Our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to her son Jerome, the entire Provost family, and everyone whose life she beautifully captured and touched.

Tigerland will never forget you, Mrs. Provost!
