On September 15th, the Houston campus of Texas Womanโ€™s University brought together over 125 students and 30 faculty members and local clinicians from Physical Therapy, Nursing, and Occupational Therapy for an inspiring Interprofessional Education (IPE) evening. Marking the 5th annual milestone for this impactful event, the evening was led by Dr. Christina Bickley, Professor in the School of PT, and Suzanne Scheller, Associate Clinical Professor in the College of Nursing. The gathering provided a dynamic platform for future healthcare leaders and experienced practitioners to connect, share unique clinical perspectives, and deepen cross-disciplinary collaboration. Highlighting the long-term success of this initiative, research on this event was recently published in the Journal of Interprofessional Care in an article titled "The Effectiveness of an Interprofessional Experience in Building Confidence and Recognizing Communication Skill in Healthcare Students." Through interactive discussions focused on refining communication, participants left with enhanced collaborative skills and a shared commitment to elevating patient-centered care.

๐Ÿง  Who says learning can't be fun?

Our Grad 2 DPT students in PT 6354 Neuromuscular Physical Therapy put their skills into action today with Dr. Daniel, practicing neuro physical therapy interventions through hands-on learning, teamwork, and plenty of problem-solving!

Through interactive practice and real-world application, students strengthened their neuromuscular treatment skills while building confidence for future clinical experiences. Today's lab was a great reminder that meaningful learning happens when knowledge, movement, and collaboration come together. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฆถ๐Ÿง

In Denton, our OT and PT students came together for a meaningful Appreciation Ceremony honoring the individuals who generously donated their bodies to the Willed Body Program.

Students wrote letters to the donorsโ€™ families and shared reflections with one another about what they learned from these extraordinary gifts. It was a powerful reminder that behind every lesson in anatomy is a person, a family, and an act of remarkable generosity.

We are deeply grateful to the donors and their families for the lasting impact they have on the education of future healthcare professionals. Their gift will continue to influence the compassion, knowledge, and care our students carry into their future practice.
