Pretty in pink, powerful in purpose! AKAs vote, and should everyone! Our vote is both a right and a duty that many fought and died for, not just for today, but for generations yet to come.
Let’s paint the polls with progress!

Happy Arbor Day! On April 24, Tau Psi Omega members Barbara Haack and Diana Henry teamed up with University of Iowa staff, students, and local volunteers to plant around 2,000 seedlings at the southeast corner of the College of Public Health Building. We used the Miyawaki method—planting trees closely together (1-2 feet apart) for faster forest growth.

Our team personally planted 16 saplings!
These new trees will help create shade, reduce heat, and provide a natural screen from the highway, making a positive impact on the environment.

We’re excited to be part of this initiative, building a sustainable green space that will benefit Iowa for years to come.

❤️Heart Health Talks: We know how hard it can be to convince loved ones to take care of themselves, especially when they’re so sure they’re “just fine.” So, we created a short script that’s not only entertaining and relatable, but might also give you some ideas for starting a heart health conversation of your own.

Dinner at Uncle Joe’s

Cousin Tasha: Uncle Joe, when’s the last time you went to the doctor for a check-up?

Uncle Joe: Now, you know the last time I went, they told me to stop eating fried chicken. I’m not going back for that kind of negativity.

Aunt Brenda: Negativity? Baby, that’s called “saving your life!”

Cousin Tasha: Uncle Joe, we just want you around for a long time. The doctor checks your heart health, blood pressure, cholesterol, all that good stuff.

Uncle Joe: I can feel my heart just fine.

Aunt Brenda: You “feel fine” until you’re not! Be proactive, not reactive. Go get that check-up.

Cousin Tasha (grinning): And when you do, we’ll celebrate with some air-fried chicken and a walk around the block. Deal?

Uncle Joe: Alright, alright. I’ll go. But y’all better not post about it.

Everyone: No promises!🤣🤣🤣

How many of you have an Uncle Joe in your family?

She’s holding two hearts in her hands, but we only get one.
So let’s take good care of the one given to us, because a strong and healthy heart today is a gift to every tomorrow we’re hoping to see.

❤️Heart Health Talk: Ladies, your heart matters. Ask your doctor: ‘When was my last cholesterol test, and what are my numbers?’ Knowing your LDL, HDL, and triglycerides is a powerful first step to protecting your heart.

Did you know? There is a simple heart scan (called a coronary calcium scan) that can show whether you already have plaque building up in the arteries of your heart, even before you feel any symptoms. It’s a quick CT scan that gives you a “calcium score,” which helps your doctor see your true risk for a future heart attack and decide how aggressive your prevention plan should be.

Ask your doctor if a heart calcium scan is right for you based on your age, risk factors, and family history.

As you head into the weekend, show your heart some love: move a little, rest well, eat to live, and breathe deep. 🩷💚
