The Sloan Program in Health Administration’s Health Students Association (HSA) hosted its 5th Annual National Case Competition in collaboration with UCI Health, with generous support from Nate Shinagawa MHA, Chief Operating Officer of UCI Health.
40 graduate student teams from across the country competed in a multi-round challenge focused on strategic planning for UCI Health’s newly acquired hospitals. The final round was held at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center in Orange, California.
The competition was co-organized by Harsha Balakumar, UCI Administrative Fellow, and a team of current Sloan MHA students: Keshaav Krishnaa Pothapur, Tanyon Loose, Justin Herzfeld, Victor Wu, Shupti Biswas, Alex Hayre-Pérez, and Sophia Lee.
This year’s competition showcased the power of interdisciplinary collaboration, strategic innovation, and student leadership.
As one finalist noted: “It was incredible to present a current situation UCI was facing to healthcare executives and leaders and gain their feedback and insights. We left more prepared, more inspired, and more committed to shaping the future of healthcare.”
