Mizzou Association of Latin American Students ALAS caters to the Latin@ community at the university but is open to anyone who is interested in learning about Latin@ culture.

The Association of Latin@ American Students (ALAS), previously the Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) was established in 1991 at the University of Missouri. This student-run organization strives to promotes cultural competency, raises awareness about Latin@ issues happening globally and on-campus. While creating a familia experience for all students; we function as a network and emot

Hi everyone! It’s been a wonderful year for ALAS, and we’ve loved getting to know each and every one of you ❤️ we’ll be having our last event will be our Y2K banquet on Saturday, May 7th from 5-8 p.m. Food and drink@will be provided, and we’ll be looking over some of the memories from the past year. Brittany utilizes her experiences and passions to be a platform for social justice, community, culture, and entrepreneurship. Her work has been featured in Refinery29, Elite Daily, Remezcla + People En Español

Edna Chavez: a member of March for Our Lives + Community Coalition. Edna is a current college student and organizer + gave a speech at the March for Our Lives in Washington, D.C. She was recently a part of Teen Vogue's 21 Under 21 list.

Andrea Benjamin, Ph.D. : earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2010. Her research interests include race and politics, Local Elections and Voting behavior, and Public Opinion. She is the author of Racial Coalition Building in Local Elections: Elite Cues and Cross-Ethnic voting, and currently is a professor in Mizzou's Political Science department💥
