CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Dr. Timothy Oblad 🎊
We are pleased to announce the publication of a new book chapter by Dr. Marisol Loredo, Dr. Daniella G. Varela, and Dr. Timothy Oblad of Texas A&M University–Kingsville. The chapter, "Workplace Bullying in Higher Education: A Systemic Leadership and Organizational Challenge", examines workplace bullying as more than an interpersonal issue, reframing it as a systemic organizational concern rooted in institutional culture, leadership practices, and accountability structures.
The chapter outlines a significant negative relationship between workplace bullying and job satisfaction and research narratives about the profound personal and professional consequences of sustained bullying: emotional distress, isolation, diminished trust in leadership, and intentions to leave the profession. The chapter offers evidence-based recommendations for higher education leaders seeking to foster healthier and more ethical workplace cultures.
The complete book is scheduled for release at the end of summer 2026. We congratulate Drs. Loredo, Varela, and Oblad on this important scholarly contribution to the study of leadership and organizational effectiveness in higher education.
