Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) is expanding its commitment to educational opportunity and workforce preparation across South Texas through renewed federal TRIO programs. Supported by two Department of Labor - Office of Postsecondary Education awards totaling $4.8 million, the programs will expand the university’s reach to students and adult learners throughout the region.

Our first Saturday Academy is in the books!! Tons of team building activities and making connections to get the year rolling. The Javelinas won and the band and dancers were amazing. Can’t wait for the October Academy💙🎉

New Student Spotlight 🎭

Meet Amylia Sauceda

Amylia Sauceda is originally from Edinburg, Texas. They graduated from Texas A&M University – Kingsville in May of 2026 with their bachelor’s degree in music education with an emphasis in voice. During their undergraduate, Amylia had experience with teaching in practicums and various field-based schooling. They additionally performed in opera and musical productions playing characters such as Pamina in Mozart and Josh Shaw’s Super Flute, a 1980’s Parody of Magic Flute and Lady Psyche in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Princess Ida. They are now aiming to complete their master’s degree in vocal music performance from The University of Alabama.

The final week of our summer component has come to an end. Students stayed in the dorms at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and got a hint of what college life looks like. We explored the labs of Industrial Management and Technology in the College of Engineering. Students went outside their comfort zones, tried and learned new things and made life long connections💙😁👍

We took our summer participants to visit Texas A&M Victoria and Texas A&M University! Both colleges were beautiful and had some amazing programs.

Omg! We accomplished so much these last two weeks and had a great time! We visited South Texas College and UTRGV. We had our annual Egg Drop contest from the top of Javelina Stadium and we continued working on our art projects. We even had some math aha moments😁🤓

Week 2 Complete! This week we explored the Chemical Engineering lab and tested our tower making skills in Civil/Architectural Engineering. Learning can be fun!

Wow!! Week one of our Summer program flew by. We explored the Civil and Environmental Engineering Labs and got creative in the Art department at TAMUK. Overall, students were engaged and had fun🎉🤩
