La Marque Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated The La Marque Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Scholarships were given to assist young women with their education.

The La Marque Alumnae Chapter (LMAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was chartered in La Marque, Texas on June 8, 1961. From its inception, LMAC has planned chapter programs and projects that align with the National Five Point Programmatic Thrust. In the early years, the chapter focused its major emphasis in the area of mental health, library, job opportunities, international awareness and Delta vol

unteers for community service. During the second decade, the chapters first financial aid and college planning seminar for high school students were presented through networking with College of the Mainland. Over the year, LMAC has expanded its programs. Programs were developed to offer support to single parents, provide mentors for teen parents, to offer support for Adopt a Black Business, and Summit III Preparing Our Sons for Manhood by stressing survival skills to young men. The chapter networks and partners with other organizations and volunteers in the greater Galveston County area in community events. The chapter continues a strong scholarship program as well as voter registration, education, networking support, cultural awareness and community projects.
