It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Golden Soror Pythina “Pye” Brown, a treasured member of the Zeta Psi Omega Chapter.

Golden Soror Pye was a 61-year member of our chapter, serving faithfully in numerous leadership roles. Her wisdom, dedication, and unwavering commitment played a vital role in our chapter, and she exemplified extraordinary sisterly principles. In her honor, our chapter’s Soror of the Year Award proudly bears her name.

Affectionately known as the “recycled teenager,” a title she gave herself, Soror Pye brought energy and laughter to everything she did. She was always on the go, reminding us that joy is a form of service. Her youthful spirit and generous heart were a blessing to all who knew her.

Services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the location below. The Ivy Beyond the Wall service will begin at 10:15 am.

Congratulations to Amiah Dugas on receiving the 2026 Versie Lee Williams Memorial Scholarship, presented by Women of Excellence Educational & Charitable Foundation in conjunction with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Zeta Psi Omega Chapter, Lake Charles, LA.

This scholarship recognition reflects the hard work, perseverance, and commitment demonstrated throughout her academic and personal journeys.

We also recognize Sean Cummings, Jr. and Lia Thomas. Both young adults exemplify dedication and determination as they continue pursuing their goals. Their dedication, resilience, and drive have not gone unnoticed! Congratulations!
