Join our mental health counselors, Karina and Tija, tomorrow at 3 pm as they facilitate a therapeutic space in response to racial injustice. Together, we will process ways to pay attention to our own emotional and physical responses through body scanning, grounding techniques, and self-care strategies designed to promote healing and well-being. https://su.zoom.us/j/3833765737. "A Shenandoah education teaches us that every neighbor, every patient, every audience member, every client, every person deserves to be treated with kindness and respect. And that until we view each other with love, until we see each other as equal, until we value the worth of each individual, we cannot be fully effective as healthcare providers, performers, teachers, police officers, entrepreneurs, voters, neighbors or activists." — Tracy #BlackLivesMatter

Last Friday, the Accelerated Second Degree BSN graduates celebrated the Blessing of the Hands ceremony virtually. Despite not being able to celebrate together in person, the ceremony was very moving. It was led by Dr. Kathleen Eid-Heberle, Director of the nursing program at Scholar Plaza, who read the poem "Reflections on the Hands of a Nurse" and led the students in the washing of the hands ritual. Videos were shared showing many great moments in their 15 month journey, as well as faculty and students sharing stories and words of thanks. Dr. Andra Hanlon, Interim Dean of the School of Nursing, also addressed the graduates with her heartfelt congratulations.

Taking Additional Precautions to Combat COVID-19 as Virginia Declares State of Emergency | Shenandoah University

We are taking additional precautions to combat COVID-19 as Virginia declares state of emergency. Through March 30, residence halls will largely close, events are canceled or postponed, athletic practices and competitions are suspended, employees are encouraged to work remotely, and classes will be conducted online.

Dear Students, Parents, Faculty, and Staff, I’ve seen dozens of announcements over the past two days, by other schools and businesses, that start with “Out of an abundance of caution….” But at Shenandoah, it is so much more than that. And so it’s with an ABUNDANCE OF CARE that I am writing...

After February 29, 2020, the next leap day will not happen again until 2024! A fun way to track our changes over the next four years is to create a leap year time capsule! A time capsule is a collection of items that are stored away as a method of communication to the people of the future. In this case, the people of the future will be you in four years! Gather your favorite things for your capsule. We’ll take care of the rest - capsules are available in The Hive.
