Bergen County 4-H This is the official page for the Bergen County 4-H program where you'll find program updates, information & reminders, for 4-H members, leaders & parents.

4-H is a community of young people across America learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. The 4-H Youth Development program uses a learn-by-doing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to become competent, caring and contributing citizens of the world. This is accomplished by using the knowledge and resources of the land grant university system,

along with the involvement of caring adults. The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station Cooperative Extension. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth, grades K-13, on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, marital status, civil union status, domestic partnership status, military service, veteran status, and any other category protected by law. Rutgers 4-H of Bergen County and Bergen Community College are recruiting high school youth to join the second year of our Urban Ag & Food Systems 4-H Club!

About: This club aims to engage students from across Bergen County in hands-on learning around urban agriculture, food systems, leadership, and community service.

Congratulations, Alanna!

🌟 4-H Member of the Month: Alanna K. 🌟

Join us in celebrating Alanna from Bergen County 4-H Teen Council as our January 2026 4-H’er of the Month! 🍀💚

Alanna was nominated because she is kind, caring, dedicated and an AMAZING leader!

A few short weeks after Alanna joined the Bergen County 4-H Teen Council, she attended the Bergen County Fall Harvest Festival, which in Bergen County is the equivalent of a county fair. She not only spent the entire weekend volunteering, but she also made the Teen Council tent a welcome environment for everyone who came to visit. She worked with other Teen Council members to run activities and crafts all weekend long. Since then, Alanna has taken real initiative to volunteer and be a leader in all 4-H settings.

Alanna has made such an impact on our community. She consistently applies for every opportunity presented to her and is sure to be an excellent representative of Bergen County and NJ 4-H wherever she goes. She has provided insight to 4-H members from around the state on her experiences with projects and trips. Last year, she completed the Stories 4-History program in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution, and this year, she attended National 4-H Congress.

👏 Join us in congratulating Alanna for all the ways that she makes the best better!

✨ Know a 4-H’er making a difference? Contact Abbie Kesely at the State 4-H Office to nominate them! [email protected].
