The Psi Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is a proud and active sponsor of the 14th Annual Back to School Event. Families were given free backpacks with schools supplies, haircuts, food, entertainment and other resources to meet essential needs. Our sisters volunteered in both the free haircuts and backpack lines by engaging guest in a critical survey to help Visionary Youth continue to provide relevant services to the community. We are doing our part to increase educational support.

The new school year is right around the corner. Our sisters spent last night volunteering with The Visionary Youth and The Malone Center stuffing backpacks in preparation. 🎒📓✏️

Our hearts are heavy at the passing of our beloved Diamond and charter member, Dr. Gwendolyn A. Newkirk, who passed away on July 3rd at the remarkable age of 99.
Dr. Newkirk was truly a pillar of our community, giving generously of her time, wisdom, and love. Her life was a shining example of what it means to lead quietly, uplift others, and leave every place better than she found it. For nearly a century, Dr. Newkirk gave generously of her time, wisdom, and love. Whether mentoring young people, supporting community initiatives, or blazing new trails, she made a lasting difference in the lives of so many. Her legacy is one of compassion, excellence, and selfless service.
While we grieve her passing, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire generations. We are grateful for her example and the countless ways she enriched our chapter, our sisterhood, and our community. She will continue to shine in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
