NEIL'S NOTES - Nov. 7, 2016
Wow! I've been so busy and have not lived up to my goal of posting "Neil's Notes" every day. It is difficult to believe that we have arrived on election-eve, and some of the most important decisions of our lifetime are less than 24-hours away.
This is certainly the most important election of my lifetime. I could possibly be elected to serve the people of Lincoln County as County Commissioner. As has been my goal from the start, it is my desire to make a difference in the governmental process. That is why I ran in the first place. However, if I am not elected, I will support the candidates who the citizens of Lincoln County feel are better to serve in the position.
I've learned SO much through this process, lots good and some not so nice. I am so very grateful to my Democrat counterpart, Elaine Jenkins for her leadership and willingness for teamwork. I also celebrate the many people who have supported me with their work during my campaign, sponsorships, making and placing signs all over the county, stumping at the polls, and just giving me words of encouragement. I will be eternally appreciative. My family, Joanna, Faye, Laura, Cooper, Carter, and my own children (though not at home) have been my rocks. My dogs, and grand-dogs, gave me sanity. And my LR band family kept me focused on my passion.
My appreciation extends to my opponents; Rich, Anita and Carol for your candor and kindness. I wish you all the best as election day draws this process to a finale.
I must admit, the divisive nature of this election has been the worst I've seen in may lifetime. My prayer is that our country can settle after tomorrow and support the decision of our electoral process. Beyond party lines, we are AMERICANS.
My dad, a WWII veteran who taught me to respect everyone and their differences of opinion and beliefs. This is what made AMERICA GREAT to him. He was one of the finest men I ever knew, and I know he would be appalled with the actions of the national candidates and the nasty things said from so many sides of our election process this year.
I pray that we will allow national healing and unification to occur after this turbulent election.
God Bless America!!!!
Musically Yours,
Neil
