KD Berrey has guided many Physical Therapy Assistant students on their journey at State Tech. Please help us wish KD a happy retirement! ✨

Today we celebrate the retirement of KD Berrey, a dedicated instructor in State Tech's Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.

Throughout your career, you've done more than teach—you've inspired, mentored, and prepared future healthcare professionals to make a difference in the lives of others. Your passion for education, commitment to excellence, and genuine care for your students have left a lasting impact on countless graduates and the communities they now serve.

Thank you for your years of service, your leadership, and the knowledge you've shared so generously. While your presence will be greatly missed, we know your influence will continue through every student whose life and career you've helped shape.

Please join us in congratulating KD on a well-deserved retirement! We wish you all the happiness, relaxation, and exciting adventures this next chapter has to offer. Congratulations!

Thirty years ago, Linn Technical College went from an Area Vocation Technical School to Missouri's first and only public higher education institution focused solely on technical education at the Associate of Applied Science level.

Under the leadership of Sen. Mike Lybyer, Rep. Gracia Backer, and Rep. Joe Clay Crum, Senate Bill 101 was successfully agreed upon and passed on May 18, 1995. On July 5, 1995, Governor Mel Carnahan signed Senate Bill 101.

The college remained under the governance of the Osage County R-II School Board until July 1, 1996, when the Board of Regents assumed full responsibility for the institution, and became known as Linn State Technical College.

Former President Donald Claycomb led the charge at the request of the Osage County School Board (1993-1996) – Carol Zweifel; Gary Anderson; James Krueger; Leroy Nolting; David Hemeyer; Dennis Hopke; Mike Linhardt; Larry Tschappler; Cliff Thomeczek; Mike Hinrichs; Tom Masso.

State Technical College of Missouri would not be part of Missouri’s Higher Education system today without the contributions of these individuals, the dedicated faculty and staff, many of whom are no longer with us, and the exceptional reputation of the college’s alumni in the workforce.

“State Tech helped me prepare for my current job in many ways, such as creating a mock wedding for a project management class, where we also learned how to build strong relationships with our group members. Those experiences taught me valuable skills like teamwork, communication, and organization that I now use every day in my career.”
