The Donaghey College of STEM at UA Little Rock is hiring a Director of STEM Outreach to lead outreach and recruitment efforts across our college’s STEM programs.

This is an important role in connecting DCSTEM with students, schools, families, educators, and community partners across Arkansas and beyond.

The director will lead STEM outreach programs and summer camps, build school and community partnerships, coordinate recruitment events and campus visits, support bridge programs, and develop new ways to introduce students to STEM opportunities.

Thursday night gave us a pretty spectacular view of the partial lunar eclipse! 🌙

We got lucky with great visibility and captured some incredible moments with UA Little Rock students as they watched the eclipse unfold.

Dr. Gregory Guisbiers also shared a few photos captured through their telescope, giving us an even closer look at the event.

We’re excited to keep creating opportunities like this for our students and the community. Here’s to more nights of looking up, exploring, and learning together!

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University (NYITCOM at A-State) have established a new partnership that creates a direct pathway from undergraduate education to medical school, allowing students to pursue both degrees while remaining in Arkansas.

Through the new Pre-Med/Doctor of Osteopathic (D.O.) Medicine Pathway Program, qualified students have the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree from UA Little Rock before continuing to NYITCOM at A-State to complete a D.O. degree.

The first cohort is expected to begin in Spring 2027. Applications are now open and are available to DCSTEM students pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree, excluding seniors.

UA Little Rock Esports recently hosted its 100th Super Smash Bros. event on campus, bringing university players from across the region to compete before their competitive seasons begin.

And if you’re a student who loves gaming, you don’t have to be on the competitive team to get involved. Esports hosts on-campus events that give students a chance to connect and find community.

UA Little Rock senior biology major Madison Thomas strengthened her passion for physical therapy this summer through an internship at Re/Align, where she gained hands-on experience working with athletes and other patients.

Thomas, a native of Houston and member of the Little Rock Track and Cross Country team, interned at Re/Align in Humble, Texas. The practice specializes in sports therapy, with a focus on injury prevention and rehabilitation.

The experience gave Thomas an opportunity to connect what she has learned at UA Little Rock with her future career. She applied terminology from her Science of Biology course during the internship and looks forward to taking anatomy this fall.

Led by Dr. Alex Biris and researchers at the Center for Integrative Nanotechnology Sciences, groundbreaking work in bone and tissue regeneration has progressed from the lab to technology now being evaluated through human clinical trials.

Through collaborations with NuShores Biosciences and UAMS, this research is helping advance medical innovation, create opportunities for students and strengthen Arkansas’s growing biotechnology economy.
