From the Brigham City Museum of Art & History:

We thought we'd end the week with another one of our lessons with Ron Cefalo, Curator of the Natural History Collection. In this video, Ron offers an overview of Box Elder County's mining history and uses minerals in our collection to explain what happened when an earthquake occurred many eons ago. Click here to watch the video: youtu.be/zoq_54_xBGU

Image Description: A man in a plaid shirt and denim overalls stands in front of a display of minerals. His hands are pressed together to demonstrate how minerals react during earthquakes.

About exploring old mines, Ron says:
1. Don't go alone. Tell other people where you and your group plan to explore.
2. Old mines can collapse in an instant. Don't explore the tunnels.
3. The air quality inside is poor and may be dangerous to breathe.

Your ‘One-Stop Shop’ to learn about Cache Valley STEM activities and opportunities

At Utah State University’s College of Science, we receive many inquiries about STEM opportunities for children and teens. Our university offers many of these, but they’re coordinated by many different groups throughout campus, as well as organizations in the community. We started this page to provide a convenient, “one-stop” place, where parents, youth leaders, teens and children could easily find out about local STEM opportunities.
