This morning, Dr. Junius Gonzales, vice chancellor and chief academic officer of the California State University, joined the 2026 , a convening of statewide leaders from across sectors, for a timely conversation on the value of higher education. 💡

He highlighted how the CSU is meeting the needs of today’s students through greater flexibility and opportunities to build skills aligned with workforce needs, helping expand access to meaningful careers and advance prosperity for all Californians.

Moderated by Catharine Baker, director of the UC Student and Policy Center the panel also featured Eloy Oakley, president and CEO of the College Futures Foundation, and Courtney Hills McBeth, chief academic officer and provost of Western Governors University.

In 2025, Californians filed 116,414 internet-crime complaints with the FBI. ​​From ransomware attacks on businesses to online scams targeting older adults, cybercrime poses a serious threat on individuals, small businesses, large corporations and government infrastructure worldwide. 💻

Across the state, California State University students are gaining the skills to address these threats and close the state’s estimated 50,000-person cybersecurity workforce deficit.

Across California, CSU students are learning to defend networks, respond to emerging threats and bring vital cybersecurity services to their communities.
