The Waldorf Institute of Southern California (WISC) is a teacher-training center dedicated to preparing educators in the holistic principles of Waldorf Education. Through hands-on workshops, experiential learning, and community support, WISC empowers future and current teachers to blend academics, art, and human development in the classroom. Recognized by AWSNA and WECAN, WISC’s programs provide the foundational skills and credentials needed to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and compassion in students.

Becoming a Waldorf teacher offers several benefits:
• Creative Freedom: Teachers have the autonomy to design and implement curricula that respond to their students’ developmental needs, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
• Holistic Development: Educators engage in continuous personal and professional growth, exploring artistic practices and self-development to better serve their students.
• Community Engagement: Waldorf teachers often work closely with colleagues and parents, building a strong sense of community and shared purpose within the school.
• Meaningful Relationships: The opportunity to establish deep connections with students, often guiding the same class through multiple grades, allows for a profound impact on their educational journey.

These aspects contribute to a fulfilling and impactful teaching experience.

This Saturday, October 26, we are anticipating a refreshing Art Saturday at Highland Hall getting our hands immersed in the artistic pleasure of modeling. Ania Kubik will begin he day with beeswax as it appears in early childhood and early grades classrooms and continues with clay modeling as it evolves through the grades.
Snack food and drinks will be provided, and you can bring your lunch or get something off campus to bring back to enjoy together on the picnic tables. The day will conclude with The Kingdom of Childhood as Blair Manzke continues to illumine this seminal lecture course given 100 years ago in Torquay, England in August, 1924!

Our Story

Imagine becoming your favorite teacher!

Waldorf teachers use music, movement and art to educate the whole child – head, heart and hands. Based on a profound understanding of the developmental stages of childhood, supported with an age-appropriate curriculum, Waldorf education creates itself anew with each child, each class, each teacher, school and location in the world because it relies on the free, undetermined creativity of the individual teacher and community of teachers of the school. Waldorf education is the fastest growing educational movement in the world. It is born out of the impulses of social understanding, spirituality of the individual and a striving towards a peaceful future.
