🏀 MARCH MADNESS 🏀
March Madness is HERE! Keep up with the VSAs as we go head to head with each other for your votes!! Starting March 6th, 2 VSAs will be taking you through their daily lives, answering your questions, and giving you a firsthand look into our experiences as engineering students here at Viterbi.

At the end of each day, there will be a poll to vote for your favorite VSA and one team will take the annual March Madness crown at the end of the month.

Let the games begin! 😈

⛰️ Club Spotlight ⛰️
Peaks and Professors is a widely known club on campus that promotes exploring the outdoors and bonding with USC professors! They do hikes, overnight camping trips, surfing endeavors, and almost anything outdoorsy you can imagine. The real appeal though: each trip has a professor join and gives you the opportunity to interact with them outside of a formal, classroom setting.

This hike to Millard Canyon Falls in Altadena was a collab between Peaks and Professors and Viterbi Well, an org focused on providing de-stressing events for Viterbi students. They brought along Professors Daniel McCurry (Civil Engineering) and Christina Zavaleta (Biomedical Engineering). This is a great way to meet other students both in and out of Viterbi as well as explore the nature of LA! 🏞️

Town & Gown, USC’s premier ballroom space (y’all see those chandeliers?!) for various campus events! Today, PwC hosted a Women in Consulting Brunch, featuring a bouquet bar! Swipe for a couple flix from the event, and a google vs IRL comparison!

🍴food around campus 🍴

there are so many amazing places to grab some food around USC’s campus! pictured are some favorites:

1. chicken tikka masala from RTH cafe
2. tamales from the wednesday farmer’s market
3. ice cream sandwiches from insomnia
4. chicken sandwiches from honeybird
5. fruit and pita chips from the farmer’s market
6. blueberry match from dulce cafe
7. any breakfast at the dining halls!

⭐️HIDDEN HISTORY ⭐️

Have you heard of Verna and Peter Dauterive Hall?

This building opened up in 2014 due to a gift from Verna Dauterive(MEd ’49, EdD ’66) in memory of her late husband Peter. The Dauterive’s were alumnus of USC, and met while students in Doheny library 🥹❤️

This is the first building at USC to be named after African Americans(AA). Dr. Verna also helped found the Black Alumni Association in 1976. She also established a first of it’s kind scholarship to support minority students in doctoral programs at USC. Oh, and did I mention that this was the largest donation ever made by an an African American to a higher education institution in the US?!

Dr. Verna Dauterive truly made , in more ways than one. She will continue to inspire others for generations to come. Happy BHM y’all! 💛❤️

📍Campus Spots📍
Annenburg Digital Lounge is a super cool study and chilling spot on campus open to all students. Great natural lighting and lots of outlets makes for a good place for those extended study periods. BIG plus, the window seats have pull down shades and comfy cushions making this THE best spot to catch a quick nap while on campus!

✌🏽Humans of Viterbi✌🏽
Matthew Lim is a Junior studying Biomedical Engineering on the pre-med track. He currently is a squad leader for the Trojan Marching Band, a member of the Associated Students of Biomedical Engineering, and does research in the Zavaleta Laboratory. In his free time, Matt likes to swim and play basketball. His best advice for prospectives students deciding on what college to attend is: “Everything happens for a reason. Master Oogway once said ‘there are no accidents.’ Even though the college process is stressful, you will end up wherever is best for you! Make the most of your last moments in high school, and hope to see you in the fall!”
