Illinois State Representative Debbie Meyers-Martin, representing Illinois' 38th District, spoke at our meeting on October 1st.
Meyers-Martin brings decades of executive and legislative experience to her role. Meyers-Martin is fortunate to have the experience of local government. Being a mayor and taking that to Springfield.
Meyers-Martin focuses on the fact she is a legislator and not a politician. She goes to Springfield to create legislation and laws that she thinks will improve the quality of live for the people who live in the State of Illinois. Not just in our District but the state of Illinois. Her goal is to bring back resources to her District including grants and state funding in some way.
Constituent services are important to Meyers-Martin so much so she has made a specific effort to let people know there are services you can receive by going thru a legislative office whether its Secretary of State’s Office, Department of Insurance or the Toll Way.
Meyers-Martin relies on very established professionals to give her advice on whether a bill is a good bill, how it could be amended or changed. Important for her to continually have conversations with educators, doctors, police because they need to give her the information that she needs to make effective decisions about legislation she supports.
Meyers-Martin is honored, has the privilege and the pleasure to represent the over 109,000 people in her District!
