🇺🇸🚒 Melbourne Fire Department’s 9/11 5K 🚒🇺🇸

Here’s the info for this year’s 9/11 5K benefiting the Melbourne Firefighters Benevolent Fund!

This is so much more than a 5K — it’s an event for the whole family! ❤️🤍💙 Come out, walk, run, bring the kids, and spend the day supporting our local firefighters while honoring and remembering those we lost on 9/11.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Not a runner? No problem! There are other activities happening that day too!

🚑🔥 Fall 2026 is off to a GREAT start in the EFSC EMS Program!

This semester we have 166 EMS students learning, training, and getting ready to serve our communities!

🚑 86 new EMT students — split over 2 day & 2 night classes
🔥 56 new Paramedic students — Class #15
🎓 24 Paramedic students on their FINAL leg, beginning their Capstone with 24-hour shifts in the field!

One of my favorite parts? The incredible support we continue to receive from our local fire departments. ❤️

We’re especially excited to have so many of our local agencies represented in Paramedic Class 15! 🚒🔥 BCFR, Melbourne Fire, Palm Bay Fire, Satellite Beach, Cocoa Beach, and Indian River Fire Rescue have a combined 24 employees in this class — all balancing full-time shift work while taking on Paramedic school! 💪🚑

And our EMT classes include 24 BCFR-sponsored students and 1 Cocoa Fire student! 🔥

These pictures are just a little glimpse of what’s happening around here. Lots of new faces, long days (and nights!), hard work and BIG goals.

For the second year, Eastern Florida State College is offering a Spring Paramedic class! 🎉

Traditionally, our programs begin in the Fall, but we’re excited to once again give future EMTs and Paramedics an additional opportunity to get started in the Spring!

Today we welcomed our Fall EMT and Paramedic applicants for intake, and once again we were blown away by the number of students who applied. Every semester, our programs continue to grow, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

To those who chose Eastern Florida State College EMS—thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey. We are honored to help prepare the next generation of EMTs and Paramedics as they begin their path toward serving their communities.

We can’t wait to see what this new group accomplishes. Welcome to the EMS family! 🚑❤️

Our EMT night class put their trauma training to the test this week with dynamic, hands-on scenarios. Students had the honor of receiving feedback from EFSC Medical Director Dr. Dudley and tackled a realistic tub and toilet extrication that kept the training practical and real. Great work by everyone involved in making this a strong learning experience.
