Sometimes, the best way to learn about medicine is to hear someone talk candidly about what it’s really like to practice it.

“Scrubbed In: Narratives from the Front Lines” brings those real conversations into the classroom for M1 students. Listening in gives them a chance to hear about their peers’ experiences and think about the kind of physicians they aim to become.

Behind every future physician is a person trying their best to stay grounded. 🧡

M2s, Pepper Mason and Emily Lu, found art to be a stress-relieving outlet, so they decided to launch the university’s Art Club to give students across campus the same opportunity to take a breath, create, and just be.

Some of our incoming M1s hit the ground running by finishing up the UT Health Sciences COMPass Pre-Matriculation Program this week!

From finding new study tips, activating a growth mindset, and hearing advice from the College of Medicine team, it’s been a busy few days!

Here’s some advice we heard from M3s and M4s:

- You DON’T have to use every study tool.
- The content changes but the way you attack it doesn’t. Settle into a routine that works for you.
- Make sure to set boundaries outside of the classroom, so you don’t burn yourself out.
- You’re not doing this alone. Ask for help & talk things out with others!

What’s worked for you? Leave a tip for our M1s below 👇

If you’ve spent time at Erlanger, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Dr. Dave Bhattacharya, also known as “Dr. B-12.” For years, he’s cared for children, trained future physicians, and served the Chattanooga community he calls home.

His story is a reflection of the longstanding partnership between Erlanger and the University of Tennessee Health Sciences College of Medicine. Together, they are helping bring expert pediatric care to families across Tennessee.
