By Will Stoller-Lee, Fuller NC director:
On Labor Day 2019, it seems appropriate to honor the tireless labor and faithful vision of the team of friends and colleagues who turned a humble triple-wide modular office into the hub of the most expansive regional campus for Fuller Theological Seminary for close to 20 years. The Menlo Park campus will be closing at the end of the month after 45 years of ministry training throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. Over the past few weeks I have joined with the loyal remnant (Gerardo, Anny, Jim and Victor from IT, and the amazing St. Patrick’s facilities’ crew headed up by Trinidad) in the bittersweet task of cleaning out, tearing down and moving the modular office. With a nod to Joni Mitchell, “they paved paradise and put up a parking lot.” But through it all we have also remembered the faithful service of the staff, the rich times of mentoring, classes, prayer and discussions that took place in this building, the commitment of students and alums to follow their vocational calling, and the global impact of this learning community on the Kingdom.
