This year, the Alzheimer’s research team led by Dean Tomás R. Guilarte and doctoral student Daniel Martínez-Pérez at FIU Stempel College is competing in — the nationwide bracket competition spotlighting the most exciting innovations in science and medicine.

FIU Stempel College is proud to celebrate Dr. Catherine Coccia and Dr. Sabrina Sales Martinez for their leadership and advocacy at the Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Legislative Workshop and Advocacy Day in Tallahassee.

From educating students on the role of public policy in nutrition practice to engaging directly with legislators, they helped elevate the voice of dietitians and advance conversations around licensure, access to care, and the future of the profession in Florida.

Researchers at FIU are advancing a personalized approach to cancer treatment that is showing increasingly promising results for patients with hard-to-treat disease, supported by new philanthropic investment that is helping expand the science behind the work.

A recent gift from the Tyler Trent Foundation is accelerating research led by Dr. Diana Azzam, whose lab is pioneering functional precision medicine — an emerging strategy that identifies the most effective therapies by testing large libraries of drugs directly on living tumor cells from individual patients.

Georgina Bonsu’s interests range from medicine to policy to law. That’s why she decided to begin her journey at FIU this summer as a disaster management major.

FIU’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work is proud to announce the reaccreditation of its Didactic Program in Dietetics.

The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) Board has extended the full accreditation of the program for a seven-year term, ending December 31, 2032.
