Assured that the dead would be insulted by mourning or sadness, ***os celebrates and honors the lives of the deceased with food, drink, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed in life. Dia de los Mu***os recognizes death as a natural part of the human experience, a continuum with birth, childhood, and growing up to become a contributing member of the community. On Dia de los Mu***os, the dead are also a part of the community, awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with their loved ones ☠️💙

Posted • Today on National Coming Out Day we continue to raise awareness for individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, and support them as they “come out” (a term stemming from the phrase “come out of the closet”) to friends or family about their sexuality, which is a very big moment! Beyond this, the history of the LGBTQ+ movement is a beacon of light — its champions are honored, and it underlines the personal being political. It’s also a chance to celebrate the liberation spirit — many do this by waving flags associated with LGBTQ+ groups or donning pins.

Posted • Be a citizen we can ALL be proud of! 💜🦋

For the health of our democracy and your own well-being, we need you to vote; 2020 and 2022 are only the beginning. Stay informed, hold your elected officials accountable, and vote in as many future elections as you're physically and mentally able to.

And don't forget about the power of education. The more you know (and the more you're able to do), the better off you, your community, and our nation will be. America is strongest when people like you have the skills to take advantage of the opportunities that are available to them.

Never forget that countless people around the world don't have your privilege. They would die to win the same right to vote you have. They want the same chance to live with dignity, to have their voices heard. Instead, they are often powerless to change things unless they take up arms in violent revolt.

Don't dishonor the hopes, dreams, and noble struggles of the oppressed by ignoring your basic rights. Your vote will help keep the beacon of democracy shining, allowing other nations to eventually find their way out of the darkness.

“Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. is enraged at the decisions made in the Breonna Taylor case. Breanna Taylor should be alive today. Over 50 years ago, Malcolm X said, “The most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman.” Given the most recent decisions, it is clear that not much has changed.”

Every 40 seconds, someone in the world takes their own life.

That's at least 800,000 people a year, according to the World Health Organization, and the numbers are rising in some parts of the world. In the United States alone, su***de rates have increased by 35% between 1999 and 2018.

And that's only part of the grim picture to ponder today, on World Su***de Prevention Day. For each person who has died by su***de, many more people think about or attempt su***de, according to the CDC. In 2018, over 10 million American adults seriously thought about su***de, more than 3 million made a plan, and 1.4 million attempted su***de.

Su***de is a preventable, which is why we’d like to share 3 ways you can take action with us right NOW.

Xi Lambda GAP Chapter History

In the Fall of 2005, Lambda chapter alumnae, Jamonique Holt, and Beta chapter alumnae, LaToya Eaves, began having conversations concerning the addition of a GAP chapter serving the North Florida region with its anchor being in Tallahassee, FL. Over the next several months they sought out other sisters in the area. Lambda chapter alumnae, Jo-Anna Nieves, Guita Grullon-Herrera, and Siria Serrano came together to complete the work in establishing the foundation for the chapter. On August 21, 2006, the Xi Lambda GAP Chapter of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. was founded in Tallahassee, FL.

In the Spring of 2018, alumnae sisters expressed mutual wishes to start a GAP chapter in South Florida. On April 29, 2018, the Xi Lambda GAP Chapter was re-established and anchored in South Florida.
