Earlier this month, Marquette University OTD students presented their end-of-year projects for their Assistive Technology class where they have to assess a public space for accessibility, then design a new space to meet Universal and Inclusive Design standards. Projects like this train students’ eyes to see how occupational therapists can help public spaces become more inclusive for all abilities.

Occupational Therapy students practiced the skills they learned in class during the Baby Lab this week. From standardized assessments to real-time clinical reasoning, the students practiced hands-on techniques to support pediatric occupational therapy. Thank you to the families that volunteered!

Congratulations to Dr. Laurieann Klockow, clinical professor of biomedical sciences, College of Health Sciences, for receiving the Rev. John P. Raynor, S.J., Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence!

Klockow was recognized for her sustained commitment to teaching excellence and student success. Over the course of her career, Klockow has taught more than 9,000 students across undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, pairing rigorous scientific instruction with a deeply student-centered approach. Her courses challenge students to think critically and apply complex concepts while also creating structured opportunities for practice, feedback and growth. 

“When I think of the extraordinary teachers who have earned this distinction before me, I feel the full weight of what this honor means,” Klockow said. “Teaching is an act of faith in that you pour your heart and soul into the work whose impact you may never fully see. To have that work recognized not just by students but by colleagues I deeply respect, means more than I can say. I am incredibly grateful to teach Marquette students, work alongside people I genuinely admire and be part of a community that takes its mission seriously.”

This past weekend, the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Class of 2026 received their robes and walked across the stage, ready to put their education to practice in the field. Each on their own path, these students are ready to follow decades of PT alumni before them to change the world and help others along the way. Congratulations graduates!
