The Astronomy Society at UH was created to provide an environment where the UH community and our neighbors can learn about the sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, galaxies, gas, dust and other non-Earthly bodies and phenomena. The society is geared towards all levels of subject familiarity. Our goal is to establish and maintain an infrastructure that encourages learning and participation, both acad
emically and professionally. We have night time viewings approximately twice a month(weather permitting), occasional trips to other observatories in the Houston area and weekly telescope/viewing setup training sessions. Starting Spring 2017, we will have guest speakers who work in Astronomy related fields present their work/research and we will offer other training sessions related to Astronomy. So whether you know just about everything there is to know about Astronomy or you're interested in looking through a telescope for the first time, stop by the observatory and enjoy the wonders of what outer space has to offer.
