🌊 How Floods Shape River Movement 🌊
A new Tulane University study published in Science Advances reveals how floods influence river migration—reshaping waterways and the communities that depend on them.
Led by postdoctoral fellow Chenliang Wu, the research analyzed 64 river systems worldwide, including the Lower Mississippi River, Amazon, Ob, Sacramento, and Brazos. The findings provide a physics-based explanation of how flood size and frequency impact river movement.
