The third day of the delegation organized by of in Boston started at The Engine. MIT founded this venture firm in 2016 to support tough tech companies, and it is aimed at solving problems through development in science, engineering, and leadership. Francisca Barros, Partner & Chief Design Officer, led a stunning presentation during the activity.

We continue the day at – Food & Nutrition Innovation Institute. Its mission is to foster a robust, science-driven ecosystem of innovation, sustainability, and food, agricultural, and wellness entrepreneurship, working with more than 90 companies to rethink the food system. We were pleasantly welcomed by Katie Stebbins, Executive Director, and Hallie Maly, Operations Manager who talked about the Insitute. We listened a great presentation from Professor Fiorenzo Omenetto, Dr. Edward Saltzman and William Shaw, Bill Shaw, Vice Provost for Research, ad interim and Senior Director for Technology Transfer and Industry Collaboration, who explained us how the university works. We ended visiting the SilkLab, were we saw and touched all the innovative products you can create with the silk solution, from PH sensors to food covers.

To end the day, we visited , a company that manufactures containers that use hydroponic vertical farming. Their platform has empowered hundreds of individuals, businesses, and organizations to start farming, creating a worldwide community of farmers. We want to thank the cordiality of , Growth Marketing Manager, Alex Locke, Business Development, and David Harris, Director of Crop Research and Development.

It was an amazing day with our special guests from CAP Huachipato, .cl, .cl, , , and , that ended with an intense debrief session while having some drinks in a terrace. Thanks for your participation and collaboration in today’s activities!

Yesterday we received the delegation organized by to Boston!

The initiative, called “Biotech: Sustainability and Beyond” is a exclusive visit organized by ChileMass and the Centro de Biotecnología Traslacional of Sofofa, which has a goal to connect and articulate different industries to enable conditions for the development and adoption of biotech solutions to increase productivity in the Chilean industry.

This one-week immersion experience to the Boston biotech and clean tech ecosystem will show firsthand advances in biotechnology and clean tech applied to sustainability and food of the future.

We will visit the most innovative centers and companies during the next four days 🏭🏫

The ChileMass team welcomed the special guests from CAP, .cl, .cl, , , and ; and visited the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. We want to thank everyone’s participation specially our great the hosts, , an outstanding Ph.D. student, and Mario Valdivia, a Chilean real state businessman and former Harvard student. Yesterday, we had our sixth webinar of the ChileMass Emprende program, presented by , Global Head of Strategic Brand Partnerships at , and with long experience in global consumer goods industries, like Coca-Cola. We enjoyed hearing about the best ways to make your brand shine and stand out from others.

“You have to know who your consumer is, who are you talking to. Make an effort to identify who this person is, where they are, how they live, what they like”, said Matías. “Telling your story gives you credibility. Let’s celebrate your past successes to show you have a big future ahead”.

Last week the ChileMass team went to New York for the day to celebrate the Pisco's month in a great evening hosted by our friends of the American Chilean Chamber of Commerce.

The event was at the amazing terrace of Hogan Lovells, and we had the pleasure to taste Chilean wine and Pisco sour while meeting the great Chilean-American community that the chamber has gathered together through these more than 100 years of work.

Thanks Oscar Stephens, Consul Mario Ignacio Artaza, Christophe Desplas, Manuelita Cody, Claudia Morales Cisternas, Felipe Valdes, Damian Fernandez, CAMS, and all the amazing people that received us last week. We hope to continue strengthening our collaboration!!!

Today we had our fifth webinar of the ChileMass Emprende program, presented by Ramón Salinas; Director of Innovation Consulting at . Ramon holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from , a Master’s Degree in Humanities from , and an MBA from .

His professional experience includes co-founding a magazine publishing house and serving as the CEO of an award-winning advertising agency. Recently, he worked with companies from more than 20 industries —including Goodyear, ExxonMobil, Abbott, Kellogg’s, and Converse.

Ramón believes that consumer empathy plus high doses of creativity are the building blocks for delivering valuable products, services, and experiences. Today, he guided us through a presentation with examples of trial and error and the importance of testing ideas in the market.

“The habit of constantly experimenting is key. At the end of the day, this allows me to bring my product closer to my market, and to better fulfill the promise that I defined”, said Ramón. “Let’s start doing more experiments in our lives, in our families, in our friends, and eventually in our entrepreneurship”, he told us at the end of the evening.

Today we had our fourth webinar of the ChileMass Emprende program, hosted by .montes; Professor of Business Strategy in , Lawyer, PhD. in Management Sciences, with a long experience as consultor of more than 50 companies in matters of Strategy and Organization —like Grupo Telefónica, Walmart, La Caixa, Ford, Ericsson, BP.

“Don’t restrict yourself by the market size; think big”, said Juan Sebastián. “Don’t fall in love with planning tools, fall in love with your goal. And if the conditions change, then change the tools in order to achieve the goal you had planned”, he told us according to his professional experience in Business and personal experiences as a mountaineer climbing Mount Everest.
