Justin Bourque had nursing on his mind when he started in Continuing Education at LaGuardia’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Program. His short-term goal was to get hands-on experience and earn important certifications such as , and before deciding what his next steps would be. Balancing the rigorous coursework with other life responsibilities was challenging, but Justin says, “it ended up being really rewarding once everything clicked.” He even earned the program’s “Vampire Award” for his skills in phlebotomy!
Justin is currently working as a at Tufts Medical Center in Massachusetts. There he supports healthcare providers and patients through intake, vitals assessment and day-to-day clinical care. He plans to continue building his experience in healthcare and return to school in order to advance his career, earn more money, and “make the world a better place.”
“The CCMA Program gave me the skills, confidence and direction I needed to move forward in healthcare,” says Justin.
