ဝါဆိုလပြည့်နေ့ (ဓမ္မစကြာအခါတော်နေ့) သည် ဗုဒ္ဓဘာသာဝင်တို့အတွက် ထူးခြား မြင့်မြတ်သည့် နေ့ထူးနေ့မြတ်အဖြစ် သတ်မှတ်ယူဆကြပါသည်။

The Full Moon Day of Waso (Dhamma Cakka Day) is one of the most sacred and historically significant days in Theravada Buddhism.

The Full Moon Day of Waso (Dhamma Cakka Day) is revered by Buddhists as a deeply auspicious occasion. In the sacred life history of Gautama Buddha, who appeared in this auspicious aeon (Bhadrakalpa), this profound day marks several monumental events:

• The Day of Conception_ The day the Bodhisatta (Gautama Buddha-to-be) was conceived in the womb of Queen Maya.
• The Day of Great Renunciation_ The day the Bodhisatta renounced royal luxury and worldly comforts to depart into the forest in search of Enlightenment.
• The Day of the First Sermon_ The day Gautama Buddha delivered his first discourse, the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta (Setting into Motion the Wheel of Dhamma), to the five ascetics (Pañcavaggīya) at the Deer Park in Isipatana (Isipatana Migadāvana)
• The Emergence of the Sangha Gem_ Following the delivery of the first sermon, Venerable Kondañña attained the first stage of Enlightenment (Sotāpanna), marking the birth of the Sangha Gem and bringing into full fruition the Triple Gem—the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha.
• The Commencement of the Monastic Retreat_ The day the monastic community begins the three-month rain retreat (Buddhist Lent / Vassa), residing within their monastery grounds for intensive meditation and practice.

Starting from this holy Full Moon Day of Waso (Dhamma Cakka Day), may peace, loving-kindness, and democracy shine brightly across the land of Myanmar and upon all its people.

UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE (1) YANGON, INTERIM UNIVERSITY COUNCIL (UM1 IUC)
5th Anniversary Commemoration: An Expression of Gratitude and Letter of Commitment

On May 17, 2021, the University of Medicine (1) Yangon, Interim University Council (UM1 IUC) was established. Today, we mark its fifth anniversary.

Over the past five years, despite continuous threats from the military junta, technical limitations such as deliberate internet blockages, and shortages in human resources, UM1 IUC has strived to carry out interim medical education and university governance. Alongside our successes, we also acknowledge the challenges we faced—delays in processes, communication difficulties, and administrative burdens.

We extend our deepest gratitude and respect to all who contributed to sustaining medical education during this period:
• UM1 IUC members, faculty from our Academic Board,
• Medical Professionals from the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Health (including Tele-Kyan-Mar),
• Academic Boards (or) Boards of Education and Councils, the Ministry of Education’s Department of Higher Education, National Unity Government,
• local and international Medical Professionals and Partner Organizations,
• Revolutionary Medical Society and Medical Professionals from liberated areas,
• Fellow Interim University Councils and their faculty,
• Ministries of the National Unity Government that supported us financially and technically,
• the UM1 Students’ Union (UM1SU) and volunteer students who assisted in general affairs,
• Donors who provided physical, intellectual, and financial support, and
• the CDM undergraduate and postgraduate students of UM1 Yangon who continued their studies under extraordinary circumstances.
We recognize that these all-placed justice above personal futures, and that all supporters stood with UM1 IUC to uphold its existence, its hopes, and its dignity.

Given the extraordinary conditions, we acknowledge that delays, communication gaps, and management problems occurred during these five years. For these shortcomings, we sincerely apologize. We pledge to reflect on these lessons, improve our systems, and move toward more effective operations. We also welcome constructive criticism and recommendations with respect and openness.

Our survival over the past five years is not merely a record of endurance—it is a testament to perseverance, morality, concentration, wisdom and unity. With these foundations, UM1 IUC will continue to march forward, standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of Myanmar in the Spring Revolution, until the military dictatorship is completely dismantled.

“Prophecy, Birth, Enlightenment, and Parinirvana” – The four pivotal milestones to remember on the Full Moon Day of Kason.

Today marks the Full Moon Day of Kason (Buddha Day), occurring in the Buddhist Era 2570 and Myanmar Era 1388. This auspicious day is a solemn commemoration of four interconnected events in the life of

Gautama Buddha that occurred on this very day:
• The day the hermit Sumedha received the definitive prophecy from Dipankara Buddha, foretelling that he would transition from a Bodhisatta to a fully enlightened Buddha in the future (The Prophecy)
• The day Prince Siddhartha was born in the serene Lumbini Grove (The Birth)
• The day he attained Supreme Enlightenment (Sabbannuta Nana) under the Bodhi tree and became the Buddha (The Enlightenment)
• The day the Buddha, at the age of 80, attained Parinirvana (passing away) in the Sal Grove of the Malla Kings in Kusinara. (The Parinirvana)

Furthermore, as the month of Kason falls during the peak of the hot and dry summer, it is the day of the traditional ညောင်‌ရေသွန်းပွဲ (Nyaung-ye-thun) (aka Bodhi Tree Watering Festival or Water Pouring Festival on the Banyan tree) . Devotees participate in this religious ritual to sustain the sacred Bodhi trees in honor of the Buddha’s Enlightenment.

May this Full Moon Day of Kason herald a new era of peace, loving-kindness, and the bright blossoming of democracy for the land of Myanmar and all its people.
