What an incredible event last night! We learned about how participatory science and digital archiving can support and empower grassroots documentation of flooding and other climate impacts in NYC. We were honored to be joined by former Flood Fellow (and all-around powerhouse) Paola Garcia , who spoke about her work documenting flooding and monitoring water quality in Queens.

Special thanks to our collaborators at the , , and as well as friends at and NHS of Queens.

Keep an eye out for future collaborations this spring!

New York Sea Grant is proud to see our work in NYC featured in Nature: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-03531-5.

Since 2016, our Coastal Resilience Specialists have been partnering with the Science and Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay to build community flood resilience in NYC's coastal communities. This partnership began with Helen Cheng and Katie Graziano, and we're delighted to see Hannah Burnett highlighted here, telling the story of how our work has evolved and grown.
