𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁
I love Troy's story - I always give him as an example!
When he came to me, he was struggling with the idea that he had to get rid of his accent in order to have conversations in French.
It’s a common belief that many French learners hold — they think that sounding like a native French speaker is the key to being understood.
But Troy’s journey shows something different.
He initially believed that his accent was the reason native French speakers couldn’t understand him.
Like many, he thought that without a native French-like accent, effective communication would be impossible.
However, what he didn’t realize was that it wasn’t about losing his accent at all. Instead, it was about clear pronunciation.
Many learners mistake accent for pronunciation, thinking they need to focus on sounding like a native French speaker, when in fact, mastering the 50 pronunciation rules of French would make them perfectly understandable.
𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝟲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼:
- Confidently engage in conversations with native French speakers.
- Navigate his first trip to Paris and have meaningful conversations, all while keeping his unique accent.
- Feel comfortable speaking French without the stress of trying to sound native French speaker.
The reason Troy progressed so quickly was that he applied the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗲® 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵, which focuses on:

- Sense Memory: Troy learned to use context and sensory cues to help him recall words and pronunciation naturally during conversations.
- Ear Gymnastics: He trained his ear to recognize subtle pronunciation differences, making it easier to respond in real time.
