This production (with a set by Frank J. Oliva, lighting by John Salutz and sound by David Margolin Lawson) is for the most part handsomely polished, and Goodwin mirrors the brothers’ relationship in the play’s very form.

Jazz unites two brothers, one accused of plotting terrorism, in Idris Goodwin’s play.

“The play, which is co-directed by Frances Hill and Peter Napolitano, is enhanced by its notable design elements .... John Salutz's lighting is particularly evocative, offering a sense of the African sun with a warm orange wash and the puniness of humanity under a dark and vast, star-filled night sky.”
-- James Wilson, Talkin’ Broadway

“Lighting designer John Salutz employs a neutral brightness that conveys the sense of the present and a swirling palette of hues that strikingly depict the calamitous past.”

"Bartlett's sparse dialogue, delivered by the expressive duo, enhanced by John Salutz's stunning sound and lighting design, makes the play a sight to behold."

BOTTOM LINE: The Ganymede myth gets a sexy makeover in Bob Bartlett's intimate and intense two-hander.
