Metro Student Nellie Wilder Solves a Murder Case! 🕵️‍♀️

In Professor Frank Bella’s English literature class at the New York City campus, he teaches the detective story formula invented by Edgar Allan Poe, but popularized by Arthur Conan Doyle's “Sherlock Holmes.” In the class, the professor reads a “two-minute mystery” to the class as students read along. Solving the crime requires analytical and critical thinking, as well as deductive reasoning.

Upon conclusion of the reading, Clinical Medical Assistant student Nellie Wilder shockingly nailed the murderer! She was awarded the book of "Two-Minute Mysteries" by Donlad J. Sobol after solving the case of “The Case of the Angry Chef.” Though a student in our Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate program, Nellie has a great love of reading and the mystery genre.

There's nothing quite like celebrating the moments that matter most, and this was one of them. Surrounded by proud families, friends, instructors, and so much love, we had the privilege of honoring our newest Practical Nursing graduates from New York City.

As they step into the healthcare field at a time when their skills and compassion are needed more than ever, we know this is only the beginning. The dedication, resilience, and heart they've shown will carry them far, and we can't wait to see the impact they make.

This stellar online student is proving that it's never too late to invest in yourself and your future! Meet Nicole, a current student in our Business Management program. 💚

Nicole has been a student in the Business Management program at Mildred Elley since January 2025. From Computer Concepts and Human Resource Management to Business Law, Payroll, Financial Accounting, and Spreadsheet & Database Applications, she has embraced every opportunity to grow. No matter the difficulty of a class or obstacle, she's determined to "aim big and do well." What drives her? Her long-term goal to continue expanding her knowledge of Business Management and apply it to both her career and her own business.

Choosing Mildred Elley was an easy decision for Nicole. The ability to earn her degree remotely while maintaining a full-time job made her education not only possible, but enjoyable. "I have a full-time job and am a student, and I love it!" she shares.

During her time at Mildred Elley, Nicole has also taken advantage of one-on-one instruction with Professor Javier, which helped her gain a fuller understanding of Financial Accounting. She says it is Professor Javier, Professor Amanda, and other faculty members for making a positive impact on her Mildred Elley experience: "They've listened, reached out, and took the time to help me in my studies."

Nicole has some advice for fellow students: plan out your coursework, give yourself breaks when needed, and remember the effort you put in today builds your future for tomorrow. The positive feedback from peers and professors will follow when you choose to invest in yourself.

Never let timing stop you from fulfilling your dreams. Nicole almost joined Mildred Elley back in the 90s, but the timing just wasn't right for her. Now, decades later, she's confident in her decision: "I'm 54 and I'm so glad that I chose Mildred Elley and all it has to offer. This is my time. And it's right for me."

We are so proud of Nicole's accomplishments and are grateful to have her as part of our Mildred Elley community!
