Student Feature!
Sara Fuchs (BA '22) is a senior from Florida concentrating in Social & Financial Economics with a minor in Business Studies. At Gallatin, she is an Americas Scholar, Tory Burch Scholar, and president of the Gallatin Business Society (GBS). During her time at NYU, Sara has interned for the nonprofit Bass Institute for Diversity & Inclusion, the US House of Representatives, and Goldman Sachs. On campus, she has been involved with Consult Your Community, TAMID, the Gallatin Theater Festival, her freshman hall council, and more.
She studied abroad at NYU London until the campus was closed down due to the coronavirus. Outside of NYU, Sara loves spending time with friends, family, and animals - running around with her dog is a favorite - getting involved in her community, and unleashing her goofy side through comedic pursuits and jokes that occasionally make people laugh.

Another feature with Alexia Leclerq (BA ‘20):

My Gallatin concentration, titled the Politics and Economics of Inequality, focused on analyzing systems of oppression, such as capitalism and colonialism, and their roles in shaping the fabric of our modern society. My best memories of Gallatin are probably the classes (I'm a nerd and I miss those IDSEMS) and studying/crying on the 7th floor with my friends. I'm currently working as a research analyst and organizer for PODER, a grassroots environmental justice non-profit, and as the Co-Director of Start: Empowerment, my social and environmental justice education non-profit.

My advice to current students and recent graduates is to: (1) always try different things (classes, jobs, study abroad, etc.) to find out what you like and don’t like - and be open to ending up somewhere that surprises you, (2) college and life aren’t easy but they’re easier with a strong support system - so prioritize those relationships and build your community, and (3) there’s a lot going on during college…classes, job search, projects, research, and so many opportunities to take advantage of…but don’t forget to just ENJOY your time at Gallatin, those moments will probably be the best you remember!

Mitchell Bedows (BA ’22) is a senior at Gallatin from Chicago who is studying chaos through math, history, and philosophy. He is interested in studying the limits of our knowledge—how we try to build systems of understanding out of chaos and when they break down back into chaos. Mitchell’s favorite part of Gallatin has been the intellectual passion and creative energy of the people around him. He says, “Everybody always has an interesting project they’re working on or perspective on something you're doing and is always willing to talk about it.”
