The Lieberman-Mitzner Center for Public Service and Advocacy is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Senator Lindsey Graham.
As one of the "Three Amigos," alongside Senators Joseph I. Lieberman and John McCain, Senator Graham represented a tradition of bipartisan leadership and principled statesmanship that has become increasingly rare in American politics.
For more than two decades in the United States Senate, Senator Graham dedicated his life to public service and was a steadfast advocate for America's national security and one of Israel's strongest supporters in Congress. He remained a steadfast supporter of Israel and an unwavering advocate for the Iranian people in their pursuit of freedom and human rights, demonstrating the courage to stand by his convictions even when doing so may have carried political costs.
Our students had the privilege of meeting Senator Graham during The Lieberman-Mitzner Center for Public Service and Advocacy DC Day this past April. He was generous with his time, gracious in his encouragement, and deeply engaged with the next generation of leaders—an interaction our students will long remember. Like Senator Lieberman, Senator Graham's kindness and generosity were evident to all who met him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Senator Graham's family, friends, colleagues, and staff.
May his memory be a blessing.
