New faculty research from CUNY SPS is exploring an important question: Can sociology courses foster empathy and does it matter whether they're taught online or in person?

Dr. Melanie Lorek, along with collaborators Dr. Sara Martucci and Dr. Daniel Douglas, recently published a study in *Teaching Sociology* examining how different teaching modalities impact students' empathy. Their findings suggest that online asynchronous and in-person courses produce similar outcomes while raising new questions about how empathy is measured in sociological education.

From the feedback received from past Fellows, the CUNY SPS Nurse Fellowship Academy is making a powerful impact and strengthening the nursing pipeline.

Just in this past year, 97% of Nurse Educator Fellows reported feeling more prepared. One fellow who was highlighted before, Michelle Lassen, is considering starting her Master's in Nurse Education right here at CUNY SPS.

Offering stackable micro-credentials in Clinical Precepting, Nurse Education, and Nurse Leadership, the Nurse Fellowship Academy aims to connect New York City nurses to expert faculty. This innovative program, sponsored by the SBS, is empowering, educational, and free!
