What an incredible day! 🎉 On Friday, September 25, LCS hosted World Languages Day 2026 at UMSL, welcoming nearly 500 local high school language enthusiasts and UMSL language lovers. Thank you to all the students, teachers, faculty, and volunteers who made this celebration of languages and cultures such a success! 🌎🗣️

Comm & Media Day will give students an opportunity to discover the many ways communication can be studied and applied in college, in the workplace, and in everyday life. Throughout the event, students will rotate through interactive stations highlighting different forms and areas of communication, giving them a chance to explore what communication professionals actually do and how communication skills connect to a wide variety of careers. We’ll also talk about communication as connection, critical thinking, content creation, media, and professional skills.

The goal is to help students see that studying communication is much broader than simply “learning how to communicate.” Communication can involve everything from speaking and writing to media production, public relations, health communication, podcasting, interviewing, social media, analyzing media and messages, understanding people and cultures, creating content that makes an impact, and the list goes on.

This summer, UMSL undergraduate and graduate students embarked on a transformative journey to Santiago de Compostela. They spent two weeks immersed in language and cultural studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela, followed by a six-day walk along the renowned French Way of the Camino de Santiago.
Learning, walking, reflecting, and growing together, students faced challenges beyond the classroom while deepening their appreciation for language, culture, faith, and personal resilience. We are grateful to every participant, faculty member, partner, and supporter whose dedication helped make this extraordinary journey possible. Thank you for making it truly unforgettable!
