Sunday’s Kappa League workshop focused on careers in public service and featured a great panel discussion for our young men.

The session was led by brothers Sgt. DeKoven Blanchard (Chicago Police Department) and Joshua McNabb of the Oak Park Fire Department, who shared their experiences and advice about their careers and serving the community as first responders, what should teenagers do when stopped by the police and answered a lot of their questions.

We were also honored to have Brother A.C. Kinard, Polemarch of the Maywood–Wheaton Alumni Chapter, join the panel and spend time pouring into our Kappa Leaguers. He discussed his career in law enforcement and now working as an investigator.

Today we took our Kappa League young men to the DuSable Black History Museum.

There’s something different about learning our history in a space built to tell the FULL story… the parts that don’t make it to the textbooks.

Moments like this matter. Not just because of what they learned, but because of what it reinforces pride, awareness, and a different perspective.

These young men are paying attention. And they’re growing.

That’s the work.
