It’s #moxa season! #moxabustion #moxibustion is so integral to #ChineseMedicine that #acupuncture in Chinese literally says “needle moxa” (針灸). Dried, aged #mugwort is burned to get focused, intense heat deep into the body and its channels to expel cold, move blood, tonify #yang, and calm the spirit. In other contexts, it can be used to clear and purify spaces, and shield against evil and other contaminants.

This acupuncture point is called large intestine 4, or Hegu (also called Hukou, tiger’s mouth). It’s often used as a point to resolve headache, but it’s also a powerful point to calm nausea, improve digestion, resolve colds, and fortify the Lung. #acupuncture #tcm #Chinesemedicine #health #wellness #oakland

@the.spirits.pivot It’s getting colder out there, which means it’s time to break out the moxa! #Moxa is made from #mugwort, and delivers concentrated, precise heat deep into the #acupuncture channels to relieve cold conditions and warm the interior. #針灸 #tcm #chinesemedicine #herbs #herbalmedicine #中草藥

Many of our students are massage therapists, personal trainers, and health coaches who maintain their practices as they study to become Licensed Acupuncturists.
.
Our current student @_sanasabia_ is currently open for telemedicine and in person tuina massage, book at @bca_clinic
.

From @_sanasabia_ I’ve been exploring remote healing and online teaching. I’m grateful for the chance to share in meaningful ways and am missing the hands-on, the wisdom passed between bodies. I’m learning ways to feel frequencies over computer waves, to read bodies and feel across distances but my hands miss the insight that comes from the material plane

A little herb lesson from one of our current students...
.
@higherstateofblyss Buddha’s hand is a citrus fruit served around the new year and is symbolic for happiness, wealth, and longevity. In TCM it’s called “fo shou” and is a regulating Qi herb that moves stagnant liver Qi and awakens the spleen. Cutting some up to dry and use as medicine in the future. Cheers to the new year, happiness, and smoother flowing Qi ✨

Even our admin do cool Chinese Medicine things in their spare time. Daniel Burgess, Program Admin for our MSTCM program, provides feng shui consultations through his business @healingfengshui
.
A harmonious living and working environment not only feels good, but it also helps our bodies to rest, relax, and restore. Our exterior environment reflects our internal state. Where there is peace and harmony in our environment we will find peace and harmony internally, and vice versa. Likewise, if your space is disordered, cluttered, misaligned, and malnourished, then you, your family, and your business will likely be experiencing these disharmonies too.
.

Feng Shui is about finding the natural balance and mutual support available in the human relationship with the environment.
.

In Chinese Feng Shui, the heart is the physical and energetic center around which everything pivots. The Imperial Palace was the heart of Imperial China, and everything in the empire depended on the health of the palace.

Hilary and Sara met while earning their master's degrees in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences (ACCHS). They found themselves to be kindred spirits and became friends within the first few weeks of classes.
.
After years of study and practice together, they built a deep trust in each other's ability to effectively practice the medicine and created Heaven & Earth Integrative Chinese Medicine with the collaborative vision to create a wellness center that is committed to the care and improvement of human life in harmony with our communities and environment.
.
In addition to being ACCHS alumni, Sara is now also our Ethics teacher and a current student in our Doctoral program.
.
ACCHS is a family and we tend to stick around. Many of our faculty are former ACCHS students and many of our students and faculty continue on to our Doctorate program.
.
More about Hilary and Sara’s practice:

Heaven & Earth Integrative Chinese Medicine is a holistic medical practice in Berkeley, California. Trained and California Acupuncture Board certified in the modalities of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, body work, and nutrition, we provide individual treatments with the goal of facilitating the body's ability to achieve optimal health.

Classes are available to both full or part-time students with classes offered twice a week, year round for full time students. ACCHS offers our MSTCM program in both English and Chinese languages.
.

Since our founding, our mission has been to provide affordable education that is accessible to our local community. Our school remains focused on preparing practitioners who are committed to serving our local community and populations who need our medicine most.

The Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences was established in 1982 by Master Wei Tsuei, making it the 3rd oldest Acupuncture school in the United States. As one of the few schools focused in Classical Chinese Medicine, we seek to honor and restore the roots of this medicine as it was meant to be practiced, as well as the Chinese culture that it comes from–this is why we are the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences.

Hi everyone (especially folks that do manual therapy), Just wanted to share with you a class that's coming up - taught by an incredible practitioner Josh Margolis (ACCHS class of '98?). Josh is a wizard of sorts, and has integrated orthopedic and craniosacral movements into his practice, providing extremely effective Tx for everything musculoskeletal related. Josh is not only an amazing practitioner, but a great teacher (his brain is bursting with anatomy knowledge). If you do manual therapy in your practice, this is one of the best classes you can take!
Found this great for learning point prescriptions and single points on the Acupuncture Board. Failed the first time then saw this.. ugg and yeah :)
