Islands & Seas

Islands & Seas Islands and seas is changing the way science, adventure and education come together to create positive change in some of the most amazing places on earth!
(3)

Our model pairs discovery tourism, scientific research, and sustainable development. We use education as a tool for benefitting the local and global communities that visit and live in the special places we love. We are a group of biologists, geologists, surfers and sailors whose vision is to operate independent research facilities dedicated to the study of the natural and cultural resources. We are further dedicated to the education of a future generation of stewards for islands, seas, and shores... Our research facilities will be resources for the scientific community, allowing them to conduct research with a carbon minimal footprint. They will also be a resource for the global community by providing access to the beauty of the places we are striving to understand and protect.

Rare Video Shows Mysterious, Worm-Like Legless Lizard

National Geographic published an article about our Bipes find! Thank you to the 2017 summer institute team to make the perfect pitfall trap to finally have the opportunity to observe those incredible little creatures on our land in Baja !

This strange worm-like reptile spends most of its time underground, but researchers got lucky and caught it on camera.

Islands & Seas

What an exciting year 2016 has been for Islands & Seas! This past summer, we were able to successfully accomplish our first field course on our land in Mexico, and build some of the structures for our Scorpion Bay field station in Baja Mexico. Watch this video to learn more!

Heading into 2017, we are committed more than ever to our work in science education and conservation. If you’re a believer in high-quality research and conservation, we hope you’ll consider supporting us. **Make a donation by December 31 for your tax deductions.**

At Islands & Seas, we spend most of our time working to promote scientific research, conservation and education. We have been lucky this year to lead conservation courses and participate in programs at Columbia University in the City of New York, Sea & Learn. We also contributed scientific data used in the denial of the Don Diego offshore mining proposal (http://bit.ly/2inDQpM).

We wouldn’t be able to do it without your encouraging words and generous contributions.

Please share/re-post to help us get to a wider audience.

Thank you for all of your past support. In 2017, we wish you success overcoming challenges great and small!

With much gratitude,
Lauren and Eric, co-founders

Islands and Seas made it to the Netherlands! Check out this quick video about the Sea & Learn program they just participated in Saba. Dr Lauren Esposito finally found what she had been looking for.....
