Our model pairs discovery tourism, scientific research, and sustainable development. We use education as a tool for benefitting the local and global communities that visit and live in the special places we love. We are a group of biologists, geologists, surfers and sailors whose vision is to operate independent research facilities dedicated to the study of the natural and cultural resources. We are further dedicated to the education of a future generation of stewards for islands, seas, and shores... Our research facilities will be resources for the scientific community, allowing them to conduct research with a carbon minimal footprint. They will also be a resource for the global community by providing access to the beauty of the places we are striving to understand and protect.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the 2018 field season. The field station is closed up and our co-directors Eric Stiner and Lauren Esposito are off to NYC to teach conservation biology and we all get geared up for some work this winter!! Lauren Esposito, a scorpion biologist from the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, recently discovered three new species of scorpion. She will show a few scorpions and answer questions about these ancient arachnids that have been on Earth for more than 400 million years.

What an exciting year 2016 has been for Islands & Seas! This past summer, we were able to successfully accomplish our first field course on our land in Mexico, and build some of the structures for our Scorpion Bay field station in Baja Mexico. Watch this video to learn more!
