Today I have written to the new Secretary of State for Defence, Wes Streeting MP, seeking an update on the long-running campaign to secure the posthumous award of the Victoria Cross for Lieutenant Colonel Blair โPaddyโ Mayne. โ๏ธ
I have been proud to work alongside Jim Shannon MP and other parliamentary colleagues to keep this campaign firmly on the agenda. Following commitments that Blair Mayneโs case would be considered, I am now seeking confirmation that it remains a priority and asking for a clear update on progress. ๐
Blair Mayneโs extraordinary courage, leadership and service to our country deserve the highest recognition. ๐ฌ๐ง๐๏ธ I will continue working with colleagues across Parliament until this outstanding injustice is finally addressed.
