Thank you to Aaron . He invited me to do a taste test of some wings he makes. I was a bit nervous to try some of the spicier options as I can be a bit of a wuss with the heat. The Spicy Orange and Honey Garlic Habanero were definitely hot, but the tastes were awesome. The taste test turned into a little photoshoot as well, with my good friend recording some video of the time. Check out In 2 Wings in Santa Ana. They’re easily the best in SoCal.

Cruising through the classic car show at the Orange Circle. I arrived a little late, which worked out well for photo’s sake. A Ford Thunderbird was definitely a favorite, as well as a Chevy Impala.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of being sent to Nice, France, for a photography job at a convention. It was a whirlwind few days with free time mostly being limited to walking to the convention center early and back to the Airbnb at night. Along each way I was on a street photography high. Beautiful light was plentiful, day or night, as I was surrounded by cool people being themselves and cool architecture.

A much appreciated pause to enjoy street food in Nice, while hanging in the street. Some awesome Italian pizza.

Recently I was in Malibu for a job and on the way back home, the sunset light was kicking off some great colors in the sky. The trees at Pepperdine were an obvious choice and I had to pull over…I had to. I wasn’t exactly sure if it was legal to park near the giant lawn, due to the several “no parking” signs. Legendary has it, the best spots are marked as “off limits.” A cop passed by and didn’t say anything, giving me confidence to spend a few minutes.

Checking out Cazuelas Taqueria in Brea. Definitely good stuff. On one of the tacos, I asked if the toppings are spicy (I’m a wuss when it comes to spicy). They assured me it’s not. But, they did admit it’s a habanero chili, leading to some laughs from the staff and kitchen as my eyes were watering. However much my face was on fire, the taco was still good.

Being a little unfamiliar with the Armenian names on the menu, much to my relief and excitement, the friendly server showed me a separate Lenten-friendly menu. What you see pictured was from a couple different visits. Definitely visit for yourself.

On Saturday I thought to go for a personal photo walk in downtown LA, beginning at Union Station. Immediately I saw people wearing Iranian flags and found a large crowd gathering in Grand Park. LA was one of three cities the US for the Global Day of Action, protesting the government of Iran. I must admit, it’s generally a situation I know little about. I got to meet and listen to a variety of people who traveled from far (one family came from Texas for only this day). They shared their stories, some horrors, and political history. It was great to see everyone being peaceful, respectful, and passionate. Praying for peace

Food/restaurant locations come in all sizes, not always having space to accommodate my usual lighting setup. Thankfully some white sandwich paper and scotch tape to the rescue today…

Lodi
Some more unshared photos from 2025. During a short road trip I made a long stop in a small town named Lodi. In my mind it’s home. My grandparents used to live there and it gave me love for old towns. On their street lived relatives within 5 minutes walking distance. The neighborhood was clustered with homes with large porches and large trees shading uneven sidewalks.

Lots of people would just come to visit my grandparents. I always enjoyed hearing their voices booming, even if from another room. The visitors would be relatives, friends, and neighborhood children just popping over to say hello through a screen door to the kitchen, or sitting in the shaded backyard surrounded by a vegetable garden and small orchard of fruit trees.

Another 5 minute walk lead to a corner ice cream stand (no longer exists), which I would walk to with my grandmother. During summer nights, with the windows open, I could hear train horns in the distance. They were freight trains, they had an alluring sound.

Many of the places I remember are either completely remodeled or just gone. One restaurant, however, still stands and operates. Every time we were in town for a visit, our last morning usually involved breakfast at the old diner. Several relatives would show up and hang out. My grandfather, John, would always show us little tricks with filled water glasses and getting pennies out of the water with a match.
Anyways, Lodi was home.

Continuing with sharing some unseen personal photos from 2025…
A few months ago I took a two-day/ roadtrip along California’s 395. On the way back for a special breakfast in Lodi), I woke up early for a drive through the Sonora Pass. It’s a way I’ve never been before and had me thinking maybe it was the wrong way. Despite my thoughts I was by the beauty of the morning and a cloud inversion. My several stops for quiet awe were well worth it.

Since we’re nearing a new year, I have a lot of photos from personal adventures that I haven’t shared. Here’s a batch from a visit to Yanks Air Museum. A friend of mine is a great aviation photographer and I got to tag along to see a famous plane named Doc. Something that stood out to me was seeing the people who restore vintage aircraft. Thank you Gérald for bringing me along.
