SPIRE and the Stanford Alumni Real Estate Council (SREC) have officially wrapped the 10th annual (and 1st virtual) SREC Conference! While we would have loved to meet up with all of our SREC members in person, circumstances did not allow for that.
With topics ranging from the future of cities to small business survival during COVID and even college amateurism, the virtual conference was a rousing success. This was thanks in no small part to the knowledge and insights shared by our two keynote speakers: Kathleen McCarthy (Senior Managing Director, Global Co-Head of Real Estate, Blackstone Real Estate) and Sam Zell (Founder and Chairman, Equity Group Investments).
We also want to take this opportunity to thank the slate of amazing speakers who agreed to be part of the conference and imparted some of their own wisdom, making this a conference to remember: Howard Wolf (’80), Richard Florida, Steven Pearlstein, Richard Rothstein, Peter Mondavi, Jr. (’80, MS ’82, MBA ’93), Sean Feeney, Jed Walentas, JJ Redick, Prakash Janakiraman, Josh Childress (’04), Maya DiRado Andrews (’14, MBA ’22), Tyler Gaffney (’13) and George Foster (PhD ’75).
And a shout out to our awesome SREC committee for its leadership and SREC members who volunteered as moderators and facilitators: Loryn Arkow (JD ’95), Wayne Brandt (’84), A.J. Agarwal (MBA ’92), Andy Walburger (’00), Ron Sturzenegger (’82), Mike Armstrong (MBA ’09), Dave Butler (’96), Melinda Ellis Evers (MBA ’93), Julie Gutzwiller (’90), Chris Mahowald (MBA ’89), Lydia Tan (MBA ’91), Gary Beasley (MBA ’93), Shallene Gross (’06, MBA ’10) and Kyle Ladewig (’08).
Lastly, an extra special thanks to our Founding Core Sponsor Allen Matkins.
