Maine Maritime Academy Woodsmen Woodsmen club is to teach people a competitive co-ed intercollegiate sport that is based on various skills which are traditionally part of forestry.

If you are on campus this week, you may notice the Christmas tree on Leavitt Lawn. This year’s tree was provided by the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust in recognition of service from Maine Maritime Academy’s Woodsman Club.

The club put in close to three dozen hours working in the Wildlands, cutting trees in accordance with GPMCTs forestry plan and re-purposed the tops of many into suitable Christmas trees. These Christmas trees were donated to a charity to help local families.
