Please join us for a night of recognizing those

lives lost in our community. We will honor there memory by also acknowledging the progress made in and for the Trans* community. LED candles will be giving out to be lit in honor of fallen TGNCNB community members, both in Philadelphia and in all of our cities everywhere. Vice Tv filmed last year and the awareness their documentary garnered helped shed a necessary light on the accurate and real-life portrayals of the lives of trans folk (especially transfolk of color in America). Our hope is that this documentary will be a learning tool for schools, employers, and communities everywhere to bring true and authentic narratives to society and dispel hurtful narratives that keep us misunderstood, marginalized, targets for abuse and ultimately voiceless. Please help raise awareness in your city if you are not in Philadelphia , Pa and remember to build allyship that will enhance and platform the lives of the trans experience until the community experiences full cultural liberation.

This time of year is always tough on all of us because we are fed up with losing our people. We demand the hate and killings to stop and for our allies to kick into high gear and pick up the fight with us! We need our hands, minds and hearts on deck to combat the tragedies that continue to target. Don't forget: violence against transpeople, especially those of color is an EPIDEMIC.

This is the OFFICIAL Philadelphia Trans Day of Remembrance page. Other leaders in the community are having TDOR events to accommodate those who may not be able to make to Center city for the official TDOR event. We will meet at 6 pm at the Gloria Casarez mural at 12th street gym Newark Washington West. As we all probably have heard, the building sold and the mural will be destroyed as a result of a rebuilding effort. Gloria Casarez was an American civil rights leader and LGBT activist in Philadelphia. Casarez served as Philadelphia's first director of Le***an, gay, bisexual and transgender affairs. During her tenure as director, Philadelphia ranked as the number one city nationwide for LGBT equality. We will honor her for her commitment to elevate the Philadelphia Trans community into a trajectories of Justice and hope. There will a special lighted lantern fly-off to honor all of our GNC/Trans sisters, brothers, and others who have lost their lives to violence and other unfortunate circumstances. Special sparkle lanterns will given to honor our GNC/Trans lives ones from Philadelphia who have lost their lives before their time. VICE Tv will be there, as they are documenting the black trans experience in America. This documentary will be groundbreaking, as it will be used as an educational tool to help connect out plight with others in hopes to build understanding, acceptance, and allyship. If you do not wish to be filmed you WILL NOT BE FILMED. We suspect other news outlets to be there, but that has not been verified. Everyone who shows up physically to the event will receive a $50 Lyft credit good for the rest of 2020. Also swag bags will be available courtesy of Desmond Tyrone, a powerful and influential Philadelphian man of trans experience. Please come out if you can make it. We look forward to seeing you all there!
