A recent Physician Assistant graduate from the Duquesne University Rangos School of Health Sciences, Jasmine Urzua-Alba is grateful for a university experience that offered a horizon-expanding education that included providing healthcare services to those most in need.

“I love Duquesne’s mission of serving students so they can go on to serve others,” said Urzua-Alba, a native of Sarasota, Florida. “In my first year, I went on a mission trip through Campus Ministry to the Dominican Republic and it was so rewarding that I continued going on them.”

Jasmine Urzua-Alba was always interested in traveling the world. She didn’t realize how many people she would be helping along the way.

When Londyn Imes, A'28, was making the decision about where to attend college last spring, the North Carolina native knew she needed to find a school in a big city where she could pursue a career in sports media.

Familiar with what it takes to achieve bigger goals, Londyn earned her associate's degree from Forsyth Tech alongside her high school diploma. She was able to transfer all 60 of those credits, putting her on track to graduate early.

She needed a media department like Duquesne University Media that would allow her to build a portfolio with client work that could launch her career.

"I chose Duquesne because of the location and program. Being from North Carolina, I've never had the big city experience I've always wanted. Pairing that with Liberal Arts' amazing Sports Information and Media program, which isn't a common major at many Southern schools, it was a perfect match," she said.

While she wasn't originally sure how she would feel going to college so far away from home, Londyn put down a deposit at Duquesne to bet on her future.

She knew it was the right choice the moment she stepped on campus.

"I was never one to believe the whole 'you'll feel it when you've found the school for you' idea, but I've never felt so at home before than how I feel both on this campus and in Pittsburgh," she said.

That feeling carried into Orientation, which she says exceeded her expectations.

"It was so fun and inviting and surprisingly very informational – an amazing way to learn my way around campus all at once," she said.

Before her classes began, Londyn was able to meet some of her professors, helping calm her nerves about classes.

This semester, she's taking courses in media design, public relations, political science, English, and history.

"I look forward to continuing my education at a school that truly cares so much about its students, has great and pure intentions, and constantly supports a safe and positive environment," she said.

Despite having earned an undergraduate degree in business administration, Tracie McCormick always aspired to pursue a master's degree.

A positive conversation with a recruiter at the Duquesne University Palumbo-Donahue School of Business—coupled with knowing that there was no GMAT required—inspired Tracie McCormick to apply to and enroll in the master’s in finance program. She pursued a hybrid learning format.

“I did like that in-person feel, but I also like the online classes,” she said. “Because of how the professors taught, I never felt like I was alone. The faculty and students are accessible.”

Now as the Allegheny County Airport Authority treasurer, Tracie leads the treasury team, overseeing the airport’s banking relationships, investments, capital funding and grant compliance administration. Her team provides financial oversight for the airport’s $1.7 billion Landside Terminal Program and more than 100 active capital projects.

From a young age, Tracie McCormick, GB’26, knew she wanted to work with money. What she didn’t know was how high her potential could fly. Originally from Erie, Pa., Tracie moved to Pittsburgh in 1993 to pursue an undergraduate degree in business administration. Fast-forward a few decades, Tracie...
